You may have some of these items lying around your home, and if so you may want to know what they're worth. So this 1st item I believe is from around 1910 to 1920, and I believe it's Bavarian in nature... and it's a wall mounted match stick holder.
Now, the matches would fit right down here in this little keg looking barrel, then notice right here this rough area is a "match strike" where you'd take your match out and strike it to either light your pipe or maybe to light your fire in your pot belly stove; and it would be right there on the wall where it would be nice and handy.
So, this particular item I believe is worth about $75 to $85. Now next over here is a nice cast iron door stop, and of course is a "kitty". I think it's from the 1920's to 1930's. Let me give you just a little bit of a pointer here as to how you can possibly tell the age of some of these items.
Right back here you'll see that there is a "slotted" screw, slotted screws were used up till about 1950, so it's always a good sign when you see a slotted screw in a piece of cast iron like this, whether it be a door stop or a bank.
So look for that and if you see a phillips-head screw then it means it is probably after 1950. Anyway, a nice 1920's - 30's door stop probably worth say $100 to $125! Now this squirrel over here is a "nutcracker", it looks like it is cast iron but it's not. It's painted black and it's really quite light...it's cast aluminum.
I believe this one is from the 1940's - 1950's. Again, right here notice we have a slotted screw, so I think that indicates this item is probably from the 1940's - 50's since it doesn't
have a phillips-head screw. Nice cast aluminum item, this little squirrel nutcracker...probably $75 to $85.
